Ladies Section

Karen Burrows- Ladies’ Captain

I have been a member of Ellesborough Golf Club since 2004 and I am honoured to be Ladies Captain for the 2023-24 season.

Ellesborough Golf Club is a friendly and inclusive club and the Ladies’ section is a thriving part of this.

Our Ladies section is extremely active and welcoming to new members. For established golfers there is a full programme of qualifying, and fun competitions on a Tuesday morning with booked tee times. There are also some competitions at the weekends and popular roll ups throughout the week, including Saturdays. We have a full programme of friendly matches with other local clubs and have teams playing competitively in the Bucks leagues and competitions. There are also many opportunities to play mixed golf in matches, competitions and knock outs.

For ladies who are new to golf or returning to the game, we have an Academy where both ladies and men can have lessons with our Professional, Mark Squire and use the practise facilities. Academy members can learn alongside others of similar ability and as they progress can play the course supported by existing members who will help and guide them along the way. Academy membership is a great way to learn to play golf prior to obtaining full membership.   Please telephone the office on 01296 622114 where you will be given further details on membership or Academy membership. We would love to hear from you.

The Charity that I have chosen to support this year is Thames Valley Air Ambulance.Thames Valley Air Ambulance gives everybody in our community the best chance of surviving and recovering from an emergency. They bring hospital-level care to us by land and air with medicine and equipment, paramedics and doctors. Their team are highly trained and ready for any eventuality. Together, they do everything in their power to protect, save and revive lives with the best critical care at the scene and beyond.

They are not government or lottery funded, so they rely on the generosity of our community. They serve a community of more than 2 million people. They are operational 7am-2am 365 days a year.

Between their base in RAF Benson and anywhere in Oxfordshire, Berkshire or Buckinghamshire, their flight time is just 15 mins.

Last year they were called out to 3158 incidents to help people in need of critical care. They are a vital part of our community. I hope you will support my fundraising for this worthwhile cause.
